In order to avoid having the return air to the central air conditioner come from the bathroom I had to build a box duct to route the air from the kitchen pantry. The duct will pass right through the vanity and under the sink. The instant hot water heater and manifolds will go in front of the box below the A/C blower.
I pulled down the rest of the sheetrock to expose the entire front wall. Check out the six 2 x 4s next to the window and then check the header over the window. There isn't one.
Here's a close-up of the missing header.
Time to hang the three section door. The front wall is ready to go.
A few taps with the sledge hammer and it's loose.
I'm working alone so I caught the whole wall on a couple of 2 x 4s.
I lowered it to the ground gently and busted it up.
I had to cover the hole overnight and come back early the next morning.
I squirted plenty of caulk under the tread.
And there's the new door.
